Greater Contribution

The Greater Contribution funds micro loans to help women work their way out of poverty. We work with the poorest of the poor in rural areas of East Africa. Women enter our micro loan program living in extreme poverty (earning less than $1.25/day) and within 2 years can increase their income 400%! As little as $50 can fund a loan that allows a woman to start a micro business that will provide a sustainable income for herself and her family, enabling her to afford daily meals, needed medical care, fees to send her children to school and more! We have a 98% repayment rate and are truly transforming lives! Making a donation to our loan program is an opportunity for ordinary people to do something extraordinary. 

Martha often had to choose between feeding her children and sending them to school, until she boosted her income by starting a nursery school in her home. With her first loan of $50 she bought cups and toys. "It was the first time I had ever touched such a large sum of money," she said. With each successive loan her business has grown, now serving 30 children. She has hired three teachers and plans to build another room and open a primary school with her savings."From deep down in my heart, I can say that this loan has helped a lot. At first, I was nobody. But now I can buy what I want, pay school fees and help my parents."

Olive is a widow with eight children. She struggled to feed and clothe them while working to farm the drought-ridden land. Today she sells produce at a thriving food stand. Our micro loan program helped her buy enough inventory to start her own small business. "I am very grateful for the loan. I am now able to send five of my children to school and hope to send the other three soon."
