Many success stories begin with a nurturing mentor. Haydn mentored Mozart. Benjamin Mays mentored Martin Luther King. Maya Angelou mentored Oprah Winfrey.

Our students are given opportunities to work with local professionals during a 3-month, paid apprenticeship. Our program partners with organizations in Hartford in a variety of different fields including nonprofit management, heathcare, architecture, law, small-business, and manufacturing. Through these experiences, the students are exposed to a career of interest, learn workplace skills, and develop a mentoring relationship with their employer. Further, they can use this experience and skills to envision a brighter, and more financially stable future. 

Raejon Gaines, who graduated from our program in 2015, recently wrote us an email thanking our program for giving him the interview, and job skills necessary to get a job in the field he was interested in. His success story demonstrates the power of professional mentorship.
