Greater Meredith Program

The Greater Meredith Program (GMP) is an award-winning 501(c)3 community non-profit development organization which seeks to enhance economic vitality, historic and cultural heritage, and town-wide beautification. The GMP strives to achieve these goals through direct advocacy and action, capturing and extending the vision, energy, and inter­organizational collaboration that has molded Meredith into an outstanding community. Our vision is that Meredith will remain a year-round business, service, and recreational & social hub for residents, our local workforce, and visitors.

Meredith Sculpture Walk

The GMP Meredith Sculpture Walk (MSW) is celebrating it’s 13th year with the 2025-26 exhibit and is available year-round.

Design & Beautification

The Design Committee’s mission is continuous beautification of Meredith, while maintaining the Town’s unique character. In addition to many hours of planting and maintaining gardens and landscaped areas, it also includes Landscape Design Assistance, Façade and Site Improvements, volunteer park trail work in Swasey Park and Waukewan Highlands, improved access and parking for individuals with disabilities, and educational opportunities through the installation of interpretive elements in Swasey Park, in collaboration with the Meredith Parks & Recreation Department and Plymouth State University. Career Partnership Program (CPP). It is designed to connect students with meaningful career experiences while strengthening ties between local businesses and schools. The program helps students explore career pathways through job shadows, internships, classroom speakers, career readiness workshops, and the annual job fair. CPP also provides students with volunteer opportunities and access to job listings throughout the year. The benefits ripple across the community:

Career Partnerships

As a nonprofit community development organization, GMP supports CPP as part of its mission to enhance economic vitality, preserve heritage, and invest in the lakes region's future. The Career Partnership Program is based in the Guidance Department at the Inter-Lakes Middle High School. Melisa Moore, the Director of CPP, assists students in obtaining job shadows and internships in the local community. She also works between the community and the school to bring guest speakers into the classrooms as well as provide an annual job fair, career readiness workshops, volunteer opportunities and job listings throughout the year.
This is a beneficial program for both the school, the GMP and the community at large by providing a strong networking system between the students and the local business community. The focus being on career experiences and guiding students to choose an industry that they are interested in pursuing.

Promotions

The group spearheads the Meredith Street Dance, held twice a year in June and September, drawing crowds of 500+. They produce the “Do the Loop” brochure highlighting Meredith businesses and services including multiple permanent signs along the docks and near public parking areas. In October, the Promotion Committee runs the “Spooktacular Scarecrow Contest” with 25+ businesses and organizations in Meredith putting their scariest, funniest, best business-related and historical scarecrows on display for the annual scarecrow contest. Come December they also string thousands of lights all along Main Street. In June 2023 they designed and purchased dozens of pole banners along Main Street to bring a cohesive look to Meredith.
