To ensure every person & community across the United States is able to experience the health, quality of life, education, joy, & economic prosperity provided by a clean, safe, & healthy environment; to help end environmental racism & embolden environmental justice; & to help ensure that nature itself is able to thrive, by constitutionally empowering all people to secure & enforce their inalienable human right to pure water, clean air, a stable climate, healthy ecosystems & environments.

Green Amendments For The Generations (GAFTG) was built upon a historic and transformative 2013 legal victory, in which GAFTG's Founder joined 7 municipalities to successfully defeat a devastatingly pro-fracking law that slated to expand the fossil fuel industry's powers and unleash a new wave of fracking in Pennsylvania. The victory, considered at the time to be nearly impossible, relied upon and re-invigorated a long-ignored environmental rights provision in the state constitution.

Recognizing the potential for this formerly unrealized tool to completely transform environmental protection, and that only MT had a similar amendment, GAFTG was formed to empower communities to secure and enforce constitutional "Green Amendments" in every U.S. state.

Since 2014 we have inspired and empowered local leadership to pursue Green Amendment proposals in over 20 states, achieved passage of a Green Amendment in New York, are working with communities in 6 more states, and are supporting precedent-setting litigation and advocacy using the PA, MT, and NY Green Amendments.
