Greene Hill School

A nonprofit organization

This time of the year we often sit with our families and discuss what we are thankful for and try to steer our kids away from such things as “I am thankful for my fill in latest electronic gadget”. In our home we try to teach our children that it is not the material things but our family, friends, and community that are important. One piece of our community that repeatedly comes up in the list of things we are thankful for is the Greene Hill School. I know my daughter is thankful for the Greene Hill school because she is just starting to read and she came home and said “Mommy it was the most amazing day, she said they let me read to the 4s class, I asked my teacher and she said “YES”! This is progressive education this is teaching children that they are respected and part of the learning process not teaching them to take tests. This is what I am thankful for.

I ask you to join me in giving a gift to the 2011-2012 Annual Appeal. When you make a donation to the Greene Hill, we come together as a community to our children. Your participation in the campaign demonstrates to potential investors and philanthropists that we are a supportive school community, and that the Greene Hill deserves support from the grater community. Each year we strive for 100% participation from our parents, faculty and Board and a significant number of gifts from grandparents, neighbors, and friends. All donations - regardless of the amount - are truly needed to meet the operating expenses not covered by tuition and allow us to achieve a racially and economically diverse balance of children and their families reflective of people in the Fort Greene/Clinton Hill/Wallabout, Brooklyn community.
