The Greene School is raising money for the "Expedition" part of a learning unit called "The Code".

"The Code" is an interdisciplinary unit of study for the Junior Class at The Greene School.   The study of race relations, DNA, and African American literature serves as the foundation of the students' expedition and workshops allow students to explore the history of the civil rights movement, cell biology and the human genome project, the eugenics movement, and the Harlem Renaissance.

The expedition is to New York City.  For our students - many of whom have never left Rhode Island - a trip to New York City will provide them the chance to apply their learning to the contemporary moment.

Opportunities afforded by visiting Ellis Island, the Museum of Chinese in America, Harlem and the Museum of Natural History will enlighten the learning that takes place in our classrooms throughout the semester.  We encourage students taking part in this expedition to become meaningful and aware citizens; a goal that is fully realized when they are taken out of Rhode Island and into the wider world.

Transportation and admission fees add up. Raising $750 by November 15th, 2014 will offset this cost for all students. It is simple to help, donate today and get a friend to donate too.
