Your contribution will help to raise the curtain on our 77th  season and bring live theater to our rural audience while giving more than 20  actors'musicians the chance the pursue their dreams performing live on our stage.

The Mountain Playhouse is a nonprofit theater creating high-quality live productions in the very rural, but scenic Laurel Highlands. Since opening in 1939, the theater itself has become an iconic tourist attraction, as the building is a restored 1805 gristmill located in a gorgeous lakeside setting.

A few years ago, we braved a financial crisis that threatened our very existence.  However; we did not let the curtain fall.  Instead, we persevered and emerged with a sustainable budget and a dynamic season. The quality of our plays and the talent of our NY- based professional actors was never compromised.

Ticket sales cover only 65% of our production costs and overhead expenses.  Therefore, we must rely on the generosity of donors and sponsors to sustain the theater and keep our budget intact.

The Mountain Playhouse has all of the elements of a successful cultural attraction:

  •  The charm of a gorgeous, scenic lakeside location in a renovated 150-year-old historic former gristmill with an art gallery and sculpture gardens.
  •  The excitement of professional, Broadway-based talent in action-packed live performances.
  • · The personal attention of friendly staff and volunteers to handle all tour plans, ticket sales and customer service.
  •  Close proximity to an award-winning restaurant, Green Gables, and many other fine dining establishments in the greater Jennerstown/Somerset/Johnstown area.

We are missing only one key element:  Your Support! Support from businesses and individuals such as yourself, allows us to continue to raise the curtain and fill the seats.

With your support, we will not only survive, but thrive and grow as we enter our 77th year.
