Groundswell International Inc

Groundswell International is a global partnership of people and civil society organizations in Africa, Asia, and Latin America that are working on their own and together to strengthen rural communities to build healthy farming and food systems from the bottom up.

Our global agricultural and food system is broken and needs to transition to one that benefits small farmers and local economies, and that is sustainable, produces healthy food, and helps regenerate the environment. This must happen in the face of climate change, accelerating natural resource depletion, and worldwide economic and social upheaval.

At the same time, farmer-led social movements are growing, and there is increasing recognition that agroecology and people-centered development are key solutions.

Since 2009, Groundswell has invested over $4.8 million in tens of thousands of farming families in Burkina Faso, Ecuador, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mali, Nepal and the Philippines. Our work in all these places is strengthening local organizations to lead their own development processes and supporting agro ecological farming, farmer innovation, community health, rural livelihoods, and sustainable rural economies.
