Supporting Senior Independence with Growing Older Together

Growing Older Together (GOT) is a membership-driven, grassroots organization dedicated to helping older adults in Sullivan County remain independent and connected to their communities. Our vetted and trained volunteers assist members aged 60 and older by providing timely, one-stop access to essential services, including:

✔ Transportation
✔ Social and educational activities
✔ Grocery shopping
✔ Gardening and simple home repairs
✔ Everyday chores that support aging in place

These services do not replace but complement the work of the Sullivan County Office of Aging, expanding the resources available to seniors in our region. In rural areas where senior isolation is a major challenge, GOT also fosters a vital sense of belonging and connection.

Our members deeply appreciate the impact of these services. As one member shared:
"After the very pleasant visit from a Growing Older Together volunteer, I felt like a burden had been lifted. No longer did I wonder how, or who, would plant the new tree I purchased."

Who We Are

Growing Older Together (GOT) is a membership-driven, grassroots organization. GOT vetted and trained volunteers assist GOT members 60 years old and older by providing services that enable older adults to remain in their homes and stay connected to their community as they age. Services include transportation, social and educational activities, and other day-to-day needs such a grocery shopping, gardening, simple home repairs and chores. GOT services do not conflict with, but add to, the scope of services of the Area Agencies on Aging. Thus, greater services are available to the older population.

Additionally, GOT has formed a successful relationship with Community Vocational Services (CVS), a local organization agency that serves differently-abled individuals. CVS volunteers and their adult coaches provide services to GOT members, fostering intergenerational friendships between GOT members and CVS volunteers.

As with any successful organization, growth requires going to the next step. We are reaching out to donors to bring us to that next step enabling us to employ a part-time Executive Director. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
