GFNF4kids is creating a Child Advocacy Center(CAC) to provide all resources needed for maltreated children in one location. The CAC will serve children from St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River and Okeechobee counties. We are one of the few communities in Florida without an advocacy center for abused and neglected children. Currently children coming into care may visit up to 8 locations to tell their story. This CAC will provide all resources needed in one location - everything from the initial forensic interview, physical exam, mental health resources, and more - in a child friendly setting. And, they only need to tell their story ONE TIME! Since the launch in January 2020, GFNF4kids has: 1)Raised just under $500,000 toward the build out and first year expenses while working to raise an additional $615,000 ; 2) Received hundreds of thousands of $$ of in-kind services from individuals and companies passionate about making this happen for the children. Tambone Companies, Architect Peter W. Jones, Remnant Construction and Jeremiah Baron & Company to name just a few; 3)Secured a 10-year lease on a building central to all four counties -lease to begin February 2021; 4)developed blueprints for interior buildout; 5)Working in collaboration with all major Stakeholders, more than 25 agencies, to bring this to fruition within the 19th Judicial Circuit; 6) Working with Cleveland Clinic Martin Health to sponsor equipment and supplies for the Sexual Assault Exam Room and Physical Abuse Exam Room: 7) Launched social media and GoFundMe campaigns; 8) Working directly with Florida's Network of Children's Advocacy Centers (FNCAC): 9) Contacted more than 75 various organizations and celebrities for support. Just imagine how this will help to reduce the trauma the children are experiencing while helping them to heal more quickly.
