Greenmount West Community Center Foundation Inc

The Greenmount West Community Center Foundation serves as an incubator to develop the greatness and talents of Black youth, families, and seniors. We do this by providing innovative programming based on the evolving needs of our community members, as well as by leveraging intentional and sustained partnerships in order to create opportunities for residents of all ages. We exemplify consistent, high-quality investment in the Greenmount West community at large.  

Founded in 2016, GWCC was initially created to serve as a safe space for positive youth development in Greenmount West. Since then, GWCC has provided high-quality, sustainable programming for youth and families while leveraging intentional partnerships with organizations such as Open Works, The Lyric, and the Baltimore Museum of Art. When schools closed in February 2020 due to COVID-19, in-person programming at the center was suspended. Throughout COVID-19, the Greenmount West Community Center never stopped providing services to youth, families, and seniors in Greenmount West. In fact, we expanded our offerings to include initiatives such as: food distribution, virtual youth enrichment and academic support, classes for seniors, Wash n' Fold: Mobile Laundry in Greenmount West, and Black Women and Girls of Maryland, a project that intentionally centers a group that is systemically undersupported, both locally and globallt. 

As our June Wash n' Fold comes to a close, we are excited to provide innovative summer programming for youth, adults, and seniors in our community, including Digital Literacy courses, Senior Line Dancing classes, a five-week summer program for youth ages 8-18, and opportunities for community members to learn and create at the Greenmount West Power Press, our social enterprise and community screen printing studio.
