Hastings Literacy Program

A nonprofit organization

The Hastings Literacy Program helps adults improve their English language proficiency, increase basic education skills in reading and math, or earn a GED diploma. Often, these improved skills and accomplishments lead to obtaining employment and/or enrollment in post-secondary education and access to opportunities that can lead to financial stability and improved well-being.

The mission of the Hastings Literacy Program is to enable persons age 16 and older to acquire the skills they need to meet the challenges they encounter in daily life and to take full advantage of opportunities in society. We provide literacy instruction to educationally disadvantaged persons and persons of limited English proficiency. We tailor instruction to students' personal goals and the assessed needs of individual students.

Testimonials

Our student, Madelin, has been with our program since July 2023. When she came to the United States, she didn't know any English and couldn't communicate. Since then, Madelin has been a star student by having regular attendance and taking advantage of our study opportunities. She now has a great job and driver's license, can go shopping alone, and earned her CNA certification! Her next goal is to earn her GED diploma and we we are more than happy to support her along the way.
