Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation

A nonprofit organization

The mission of HPNF is to advance expert care in serious illness. In support of our mission HPNF is developing the nursing workforce to ensure quality palliative care is available in all communities across all healthcare settings. In the past three years HPNF has offered 184 combined Scholarships to Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses. These scholarships enable Education, Certification and Leadership that provides better care at a lower cost while increasing the quality of life.

As the nation's largest and oldest professional organization dedicated to promoting excellence in palliative nursing, the Hospice and Palliative Nursing Association has an obligation to the profession, to patients and to their families to deliver a comprehensive education plan that impacts the quality standards of Palliative Care.

When faced with a serious illness, people turn to their nursing professional for care, education, information, and guidance. Through their care and interventions, nurses address the complex needs that face individuals and their families. Nurses work in hospitals, homes, long term care facilities, and hospices. They are the primary team members who coordinate, assess, direct and evaluate patient care needs that arise during the illness experience.
