Homeless Animal Adoption League Inc

The Homeless Animal Adoption League, Inc. (HAAL) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill, animal shelter  that works exclusively with felines to fulfill our mission of saving lives one cat at a time. We do not receive any state or federal funds, so all of our work is done through the donations we receive from our generous supporters. We are a 100% volunteer-only organization and 100% of all donations go directly toward the care of our cats.

HAAL was originally formed as the East Orange Animal League (EOAL) in 1989 by citizens concerned about the conditions in the East Orange Pound. In 1995 the EOAL was incorporated as the Homeless Animal Adoption League, Inc. When the East Orange Pound closed, HAAL set up what was meant to be a temporary residence in Bloomfield, NJ - which turned into a 17+ year residency for homeless, abandoned, and abused cats. 

In 2016 we were fortunate enough to acquire a permanent location at 236 Delawanna Avenue in Clifton, NJ which was graciously donated to our organization. After two long years of construction, repairs and headaches we were finally able to relocate from our Bloomfield location.  We were able to make the move to our new building on January 20, 2018, exactly 2 years to the day that we received approval for the move by the City of Clifton.  During the renovation process we were blessed with donations of cages, furniture, a dishwasher and dryer, all things we needed.  Unfortunately these were in place of many of the cash donations we rely on for survival.   As we tried to spread the money to both buildings before the move our cash reserves were dwindling.  Today our finances are dangerously low, and we are making a plea to help us continue our mission by donating.  Every penny counts and goes directly toward the care of the cats and facility.  Our shelter has been through rough times and we are strong, but we are also worried.   We need your help today.
