Habitat for Humanity Golden Empire is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. Habitat for Humanity Golden Empire is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.

In 2025 Habitat for Humanity Golden Empire has hit the ground running! Our local Habitat Staff and Team of Volunteers has made it their mission to serve our most vulnerable; the Aging in Place, Veterans Community, and those in need of affordable housing. Through Habitat's Critical Home Repair Program to building long-term affordable housing , Habitat continues to answer the call. 

The Habitat Restore located at 5101 White Ln Bakersfield, also serves those in need by repurposing and distributing clothing, household items, furniture, and appliances to those in need at a fraction of the cost. Habitat's Restore also serves as a community jobs creator while helping to reduce our local landfills.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing organization working in local communities across all 50 states and in more than 70 countries around the world. Habitat’s vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat works towards this vision by building and improving homes in partnership with individuals and families in need of a decent and affordable place to live. 

Habitat for Humanity Golden Empire (HFHGE) has been serving families in Kern County since 1990. We are not just an organization that helps people buy & repair their homes, but a movement that empowers communities to help give everyone access to a safe, decent, and affordable home. Around the world, 1.6 billion people, roughly the size of China and the U.S. combined, lack adequate shelter. When we think of the number of houses, apartments, and buildings that remain empty and the ever-increasing number of people that are without shelter we must ask ourselves what is going on? Having access to affordable housing comes to play a critical role in building strong and stable communities. Everyone should have access to a decent place to live, no matter what their background is. Although we are a global nonprofit Christian housing organization, our doors are open to ALL who desire to be a part of the work we do. At HFHGE we gather generous volunteers and donors who have a heart for serving people in need. We pair them with families who are searching for a helping hand and working hard themselves to overcome barriers to success. What happens next? We shatter long lasting effects of the all too familiar poverty cycle! When our community comes together to help one another there is no problem that is too big to take on. Shelter is more than 4 walls and a roof. It is about laying a solid, safe, and secure foundation in the homes of families that will set them up for success for the future to come.

Habitat For Humanity Golden Empire is a local non-profit organization right here in Kern County. Our goal is to empower, stabilize and bring hope to people in our community by helping them build and buy their own home. A safe and stable home is foundational in building a better future for children in Kern County but unfortunately there are many who are living in poverty conditions. Habitat for Humanity Golden Empire desires that everyone has a safe, decent and affordable place to call home and we need your help to make that a reality.
