Hand in Paw-Friends of Bossier City Animal Control

Hand in Paw- Friends of Bossier City Animal Control was founded in July 2005 and received 501 (c) (3) non-profit status in August 2006. Our organization consists of a small but dedicated group of volunteers who work with Bossier City Animal Control (BCAC) to promote the adoption of animals sheltered at their facility, strays or owner surrendered cats and dogs. Hand in Paw (HIP) assists with Saturday adoptions at the shelter as well as off-site locations such as Petsmart in Bossier City. Through donations and fundraisers HIP also assists with spaying and neutering, and necessary medical care of the animals sheltered at BCAC. We conduct a low cost rabies clinic bi-annually for the community and have participated in providing emergency shelter and care for the animals evacuated during hurricanes beginning with Katrina in 2005. During 2020, we have become more involved with the fostering program at BCAC. In addition, we have begun participating in rescue and transport of BCAC animals to no-kill rescues throughout the United States, especially within the northeast.
