Harlan County Friends of the Shelter

The people of Harlan Countu are having a hard time. Not only is unemployment at an all time high, but people are leaving the area to find employement elsewhere and are leaving thier pets behind. Our shelter is operating at full capacity at a time when resources are at an all time low. This is where Friends come in. Our goal is to work with our rescue partners and adopt as many of our animals to new forever homes. In the last two years we have rescued over 2000, yes ,2000 animals from our shelter. These animals have been placed in homes from Minnesota, to Chicago and all up and down the east coast.

We work with our partners at LMU Veterinary School, and fully vet all our animals. We also utilize our female prison population to maintain our shelter and interact and socialize our animals. This arrangement has proved t be mutually benificial!. We are committed to make a positive impact on our most vunerable population.
