In our communities, there are abused and neglected children who live in the shadows of our lives. She may be the quiet girl in your son's class, who had to move homes and change schools three times in the past year. He may be the lonely child at the park who never joins in the game. A Court Appointed Special Advocate, or CASA volunteer, is a trained citizen, age 21 and older, appointed by the judge to represent the best interest of these children in court.
A CASA volunteer is a powerful voice in a child's life! The CASA Program of La Porte County promotes and supports quality volunteer representation to provide a child the opportunity for a safe, permanent, nurturing home.
Harmony House (supervised visitation and exchange program) remains a safe haven for children meeting with their families under supervised visitation. Our caring homelike setting encourages positive family relationships to further help ensure a safe future for children in need.
The mission of our Court Appointed Youth Advocate Program, known as CAYA, is to support the best interest of children involved in the juvenile justice system because of their delinquent acts. A CAYA volunteer provides a positive mentor to these at risk youth. Remaining a positive role model throughout the juvenile delinquency court process, CAYA volunteers strive to positively change the lives of the children they work with and promote better decision making and a future for these youth.
Whether you are able to donate your precious time or treasures, considering a gift to the Family Advocates Program insures these at risk children, involved with the CASA, CAYA and/or Harmony House Programs, a better chance for a brighter future.
