The Nature Nook will take visitors on an interactive journey through the natural environments of Nebraska. Visitors will explore prairie habitats up close, and investigate human impact on nature in both rural and agricultural settings.

Inside, Albie the Black Squirrel will guide visitors through their expedition, giving them hints of things to look for and places to go within the room. Families can return to this educational area again and again to learn and play side by side.

Will you and your family have a hand in this project? For each gift of $250, you'll have the opportunity for a child in your life to leave his or her mark in the Nature Nook: a muddy handprint! After we receive your gift, we'll be in touch so you can provide us with the child's name, date of birth, and a traced copy or scanned image of their handprint. If you'd like more information about this project, contact the Museum at 402.461.4629.

Founded in 1927, Hastings Museum is the largest municipal museum between Chicago and Denver. Support The Nature Nook and join us in our mission of educating families about Nebraska's natural environments!

A Note of Pride: Of the more than 17,000 museums in the United States, less than 5% meet the professional standards and best practices required for accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums. Hastings Museum in proud to be a member of that select group.

All gifts to the Nature Nook will be accepted through the Hastings Museum Foundation.
