Haven-Refuge for Pregnancy and Birth

At Haven we provide continuous support to pregnant people during the prenatal, birth and postpartum periods through doula care, lactation counseling, education and family assistance. At its core, Haven is focused on supporting both families and our birth workers through equitable care and compensation. Doulas provide physical, emotional, informational support and advocacy for birthing families.

We also provide training to our doulas and lactation counselors through DONA and IBLCE approved educators. 

Our physical location is on the border of Oak Park and East Sacramento, and our goal is to provide resources for families throughout Sacramento with a focus on at-risk neighborhoods such as Oak Park and Meadowview.  

 We have already seen amazing outcomes. Haven babies are being born with less intervention and as a result are thriving.  When women feel empowered by their births this leads to long term health and child raising success.  Studies show that doula and lactation care when provided during the late prenatal period, birth and post-partum significantly reduces maternal and infant death and injury. This support is also improving infant bonding, feeding and overall health of the family.
