"Impacting the lives of our youth ... one child at a time."

Our founder, Marcia Carter, has worked for over 25 years with children enrolled in special education and identified as having an emotional disability. Throughout her career, Marcia noticed that many of the children from low income families were usually unable to practice the valuable social skills they learned during the school day in structured extracurricular enrichment programs, such as seasonal camps, due to their family's financial constraint.

To bridge the gap, the Headley Carter Cares Foundation was established October 8, 2010.

WHAT WE DO ...

  • HCCF gives a voice to low-income families and their children who have been identified by their their school district as having an emotional disability.
  • We strengthen self-esteem, competence and a sense of mastery by providing scholarship recipients with long-term opportunities to positively connect with their communities.

WE SEEK TO ...

  • Benefit society and promote a sense of community,
  • Improve the educational and social well being of disadvantaged children and their families, and
  • Promote personal pride, self-reliance, and social change to low-income youth with special needs and emotional disabilities.
