Healing Hearts Animal Rescue and Refuge

Established in 2005, Healing Hearts is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of abused and neglected animals, specifically horses. Healing Hearts is often called upon for the most serious of law enforcement cases to assist in the rescuing and rehabbing of these animals. As one of the largest farm rescues, we provide them with care and compassion at our Healing Hearts Animal Refuge Ranch in Arizona. Although Healing Hearts is a refuge where animals may live out their natural lives, if at all possible we try to find them a new forever home. Animals of all kinds; horses, pigs, goats, sheep, burros, cows find a safe haven at this unique and dedicated no-kill animal facility. 

Healing Hearts also provides a one-of-a-kind reading program to Arizona. "Books in the Barn" is designed for pre-k to school-aged children to practice, strengthen, and utilize their literacy skills in front of a rescued equine. This mutually beneficial program teaches trust for both child and horse, but especially encourages the joy of reading, without fear or judgement.

While being at the barn the children also learn about horses and horse care; what they eat, tools used to groom them and equipment used to ride them. The visit ends with a rewarding carrot for the horses and juice, snacks & a book for the kids. #GivingTuesday
