Heartland Cancer Foundation

The Heartland Cancer Foundation (HCF) believes that no cancer patient should fall behind on treatment because they struggle to afford their everyday expenses. HCF's mission is to provide practical and immediate financial assistance to eligible cancer patients in our community so they can focus on what matters most: healing. Empowering Gage County to Heal. HCF aspires to provide compassion and hope by removing barriers to care by covering home, auto, utility costs, and travel expenses to and from treatments, for local cancer patients in need of additional support during their treatment journey.

Over 11,000 Nebraskans will receive a cancer diagnosis this year. That's your neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family. Chances are cancer has had an impact on your life. Cancer is the 2nd leading cause of death among Nebraska residents; 62% of cancer patients report being in debt due to treatment, and 42% of new cancer patients lose their life savings. HCF aspires to provide compassion and hope and remove barriers to care by covering home, auto, and utility costs for local cancer patients in need of additional support during their treatment journey.

OBJECTIVE: HCF currently has a budget to help 350 cancer patients with $1,000 for each patient to put towards House Payments/Car Payments/Utilities Payments/Gas Cards to cover trips to and from treatments. For the first quarter of 2025 HCF has fulfilled 85 requests for $85,000. HCF has never turned down a patient's request and we want to fulfill 100% of the requests we will receive this year. HCF helped 21 patients in Gage County in 2024 with grants of $750 each for a total of $15,750.
