Transitions works to end poverty and homelessness for women and children in Spokane, WA. Transitions pursues this mission through the operation of the Women's Hearth, Transitional Living Center, EduCare, Miryam's House, New Leaf Kitchen & Cafe, and Home Yard Cottages--these programs range a wide spectrum from emergency services for women experiencing homelessness, to housing, to childcare, to job training.
Transitions serves 1,000+ women and children in crisis annually. Transitions' purpose is to help low-income women and their children experiencing homelessness, addiction, mental and physical illness, and/or fleeing abuse attain stability, housing, and financial self-sufficiency. Wrap-around services include outreach to provide safety, referrals to social and health services, support groups and classes, transitional & permanent housing with support services, and employment support services.
For GiveBIG 2023, we're highlighting our onsite childcare center, EduCare.
EduCare is a licensed childcare on the TLC campus for infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-age children designed to meet the needs of formerly homeless children. EduCare provides a developmentally supportive environment, a robust nutritional program, and trauma-informed emotional support for this specific population of children.
We work to increase opportunities for individual achievement and to develop a stronger sense of individual value, empathy, and self-awareness for each boy or girl who walks through our door. In 2022, 19 children received supportive care at EduCare.
Thank you to our wonderful matching gift donors--Providence and Anonymous! We are honored by your passion for moving women's and children's lives forward! Having these matching donors means that every dollar you donate will be matched, therefore doubling the gift. We thank you for your gift!
