In addition to being a traditional community foundation, the Henderson Community Foundation (HCF) prides itself on helping people to reach their charitable dreams of helping others.

Case in Point:

Detective Holman's dream was to give back to the community by educating parents and their children about the dangers of living in a continuously connected cyber world.  You see, Detective Holman worked for years on cyber crimes and saw, first-hand, the trauma and victimization caused by predators that usually begins with a simple photo known as a "selfie."

The Detective volunteered his time to begin educating small groups, but really wanted to create a known movement supported by a 501(c)3 charity.  HCF partnered with Detective Holman to start SM@RTConnections.  He is seeing his charitable dream come true!

Why HCF:

HCF provides the expertise in managing, operating, bookkeeping, IRS reporting, and donor relations allowing people just like Detective Holman and his volunteers to focus on what they love most of all - helping others.

We have many stories about how individuals or small groups have partnered with or utilized the services of HCF to better our community in the areas of health, education and quality of life.

Measureable Results:

Thousands of books are distributed, free, to elementary students of at-risk schools - imagine the smile on that child's face when receiving their very first book of their own to take home and keep forever.

Children receive free medical care at school-based health centers - in one case this resulted in a young high school student being diagnosed with brain cancer, but getting the treatment that he needed to reach remission.

Through HCF hundreds of thousands have been given to numerous qualified 501(c)3 organizations doing incredible work in Southern Nevada.  Even corporations join HCF so that their employees can create community impact teams to collect funds over a period of time, sometimes through payroll deductions, and then decide as a group, where the funds are most needed in our community.

Annually, HCF prepares Requests for Grant Proposals and awards a grant (or up to three grants) to critical community initiatives.

In 2015, over $261,000 was spent in grants and charitable community programs helping thousands in need.
