Henson Arts in Learning Inc

HAIL, Inc. provided an after school arts program to National Baptist Memorial Church, lead an African-American History Month quilting circle at Academy of Hope in Ward 8, and raised $1,000 at the Rhythm of the Beat fundraiser, a marathon of dance classes provided by professional instructors representing studios throughout the city. HAIL also received grants from DC commission on the Arts and Humanities Folk and traditional  Program , Small Projects and Neighborhood Advisory Council Grant

 

HAIL, Inc. has been successful in collaborating with arts professionals and community-based organizations throughout the District. It is through these partnerships and collaborations, that the artists of HAIL, Inc. developed the Young Quilters Collaborative.

The Young Quilters Collaborative summer program provided through a consortium of multi-talented teaching artists, professional artists, and SYEP workers.  Our multi-talented and experienced groups of art educators have experience in serving students in both formal and informal settings throughout the District of Columbia. Chapuchi Ahiagble, a Ghanaian-born 10th generation Master Weaver and DC-based artist, provided arts experiences in traditional African weaving and embroidery. Howard University arts professor and author of Hidden In Plan View, Dr. Raymond Dobard guided participants in interpreting visual cues within art pieces. Jarvis Grant, a local media artist and instructor at Duke Ellington School of the Arts, provided workshops in photography and digital media.

Quintessential Consulting provided public relations and marketing for all HAIL events and  programs. During the 2011-2012 season has planned a holiday bazaar to feature local artists and craftspersons.
