Heritage Multicultural Youth and Family Programs Inc

Our concern---Childwelfare, War, diseases poverty, family crisis & disengagement, and illiteracy  are reaching unpresidented proportion especialy among ethnic minority and underserved populations. Culturally relevant support and mental services to specific populations are scarce to unabailable at criticl points.  

HMYFP was formally incorporated in 2002 as a result of extensive community based volunteer work and at the conclusion of a research by the founder.  The results of that study support other studies that indicated there there was a gap, and an urgent need for a culturally relevant program to meet the unique needs of the rapidly growing, most minority ethnic populations in the Washington, DC metro area. 

HMYFP was founded as a transitional support organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of the rapidly increasing ethnic minority, underserved and disadvantaged youths and families locally and globally. HMYFP is guided by it's vision that the world is fast becoming a very diversified global arena, and as such each child should be afforded the opportunity to reach his/her full potiental in anticipation of being a productive and meaningful global citizen.  Locally, HMYFP has since continously partner/colloborate with various agencies to offer culturally sensitive mental health, skills building, out of school enrichment programs, linguistic/translation, crisis, trainings and other life saving and life changing support to our communitie.  Internationally, we conduct out reach, implement and support programs/projects. HMYFP is currently developinga model orphanage and Youth empowerment center to save and change vulnerable and destitute lives.   

HMYFP success is evident in individuals (such as our poster child & a host of youths, families and communities).

 Our ongoing success is grounded on the principle of building asset in the participants by encouraging them to recognize and utilize the strength and values within them, their families, cultures and communities.  Our approach is hands on, holistic, culturally relevant and grounded on evidenced based best practice model. 

We advocate support to enhance, support and promote self sufficiency and independence.
