Heritage Christian Academy

Heritage Christian Academy was founded in 1996 as a college preparatory school that is both distinctively Christian in philosophy and practice and Classical in approach to curricula and instructional methods. For over 20 years we have partnered with parents to provide a challenging, educational experience designed to prepare their children to live purposefully and intelligently as they pursue the individual calling God has given them.

As an independent school, while we do not use the Common Core curriculum, we not only meet but also exceed the academic standards. Classes are capped at 14 students, which enables the students to be given personalized attention. This also ensures that rigorous academic standards are maintained and a close-knit community is formed. We are accredited by SCISA, the South Carolina Independent School Association, as well as a member of the prestigious Educational Records Bureau (ERB). We are located on over 8 acres in a quiet, residential area of Lexington. Unlike many other schools, Heritage encourages and welcomes parents to become involved in the educational process. We believe that parents have the divine responsibility to educate their children, and the school is an avenue they have chosen for that endeavor. Heritage parents are truly a part of the school family. To help facilitate the school-family bond, there are many special annual events including Back to School socials, Grandparents' Day, a Chili cook-off, a Holiday Market, Christmas Vespers, Homecoming Dinner, Fine Arts Day, and more. Our students participate in many state-wide competitions including Duke Tip, Junior Scholar Program, Pathways to Stem, the Music Festival, the Science Fair, the Spelling Bee, the Literary Meet, Quiz Bowl, Battle of the Books, and the Math Meet. Our after-school programs include Google Club, basketball, and tennis.

This past October 14th, we celebrated our 4 year anniversary at Heritage Christian Academy. Why? October 14th, 2013 is the day our family's' life was drastically changed and blessed in ways we could never have anticipated. After moving three times in three years and attending 3 other Christian schools, our family came to Heritage Christian Academy in Lexington, South Carolina. We were looking for a Classical Christian school with a rigorous academic and accelerated curriculum, emphasizing critical thinking in the areas of grammar, logic, and rhetoric. Additionally, it was very important to us to find a Biblically, well-grounded school where modeling of the values of Christ would be demonstrated, experienced and emphasized to our children. What our children and family received were all those things, but so much more. We found a family for our own family to be a part of, where we daily experience, love, joy, grace, peace, patience and kindness. Our children are more than receiving just an excellent academic education. They are being trained up in the way they should go. We as parents and human beings can not make a better world for our children, but we can raise up better children and adults for this world. Heritage Christian Academy is helping us do just that. Heritage is our family, our home and a Christian heritage with which our children may be a blessing to others.

Heritage Christian Academy has been a catalyst for Christ's love in my family's spiritual life. For many years I taught in a very different school setting in which children were taught that God is not the author of Creation. A humanistic worldview was at the forefront of academic instruction. Since I began teaching at Heritage over three years ago, my entire family has experienced overwhelming love, faith, and peace through the many prayers and encouragement provided by fellow Heritage families, faculty, and staff. My son, who also attends Heritage, has significantly grown in the knowledge of God's love for him and each day experiences new learning opportunities through the light of truth. He has also sustained loving and supportive friendships with fellow students who share our Christian belief system. It has been such a blessing to be not only a part of God's family through Christ but a part of the Heritage family as well.
