High Country Sinfonia Inc

A nonprofit organization

High Country Sinfonia is a string chamber orchestra composed of world class musicians living in the Roaring Fork Valley region of Colorado. As a conductor-less musician-led ensemble, we work collaboratively to create musically inspiring performances.  Our musicians span multiple generations, intentionally creating a space for mentorship and musical development.

Formed in 2015, the High Country Sinfonia (HCS) has presented two concert series each year featuring numerous soloists as well as the full ensemble. Concerts are free and open to the public, taking place in accessible venues throughout the Roaring Fork Valley. Diverse programming is also a focus of HCS, with past performances including a range of works from Jessie Montgomery's Strum to Brandenburg Concerti, to Bartók, Piazzolla, Britten and more.

High Country Sinfonia offers invaluable musical performances in the Roaring Fork Valley as the only professional chamber orchestra in the region. Each concert series is regularly attended by more than 300 community members.

HCS also offers an important musical outlet for 20 professional musicians in our rural area. In helping to keep these musicians actively performing and living in western Colorado, it then enriches our larger communities through the work they do in teaching our youth and their involvement in other arts education programming.
