The mission of High Desert Homeless Services (HDHS) is to assist men, women, and children who have been displaced from long-term housing due to unforeseen circumstances. We provide not only a safe temporary shelter to those in need, but we also provide all food, personal care items, and any other needs during our client's stay. Through our full-service homeless shelter, our clients are able to focus on finding employment and permanent housing.

HDHS provides a safe and structured living environment which includes an address to receive their mail, the use of a telephone, computers, a shower, and an in-shelter laundry facility. We also match our clients to the resources that they need in order to provide the best opportunity to help them get back on their feet. 

We not only provide temporary solutions, but we provide skills to last our clients a lifetime. Classes include; life skills, healthy parenting, employment readiness, money management, financial budgeting, health and wellness and more. Although we care deeply for each and every one of our clients, our hope is to only have them return to the shelter to share great news about their new beginning outside of the shelter.

Our children also are provided with homework help, crafts, and story time, all brought to them by Ready for Reading. This and our newly upgraded playground, and holiday events help the children adjust to their temporary stay at the homeless shelter. Although a homeless shelter is essential, these programs are not fully funded and we depend greatly on private and corporate sponsors to help us provide and expand the services we have. Our donors are an integral part of our team and are appreciated very much by our clients. 

Homelessness can happen to anyone! It is not biased, it is not fair, and it does not have to be forever! No one is immune to homelessness, most are only a couple of paychecks away from losing everything. 

 As a 55-bed facility we are able to serve homeless individuals and families for 90-days. We are constantly seeking solutions to the problem of homelessness and encourage supporters to participate in this mission with us.  We are sincerely grateful for your support!
