HIP Housing empowers families and individuals in San Mateo county to live happier, more independent, and self-sufficient lives through innovative housing, and mentoring programs that help break the cycle of poverty.

What is home? The very word invokes the feelings of comfort and security. But for many, home is a source of anxiety - for the single person whose limited budget can't stretch to today's high rents, the elderly who need some assistance to remain independent in their home, or the single parent struggling to make ends meet. 

The cost of the average one-bedroom in San Mateo County is $2,136 per month. An individual or family needs to earn over $85,000 a year to afford this rent. More than half of San Mateo County residents earn less than $85,000 a year.  

All of our three programs use existing housing stock to create new affordable housing and each benefits from a self-funding model. This allows 100% of all donations to go directly to programs and not administration.
