Historic Annapolis Inc

Funds raised will support the Historic Annapolis After School Program, Annapolis Footprints: Following in the Footsteps of History.  Held once a week for six weeks, the Footprints Program is a highly engaging and entertaining experience for Annapolis area elementary school students.  The program features hands-on activities, dramatic theatrical living history performances, and visits to actual historical sites to bring history to life in a way that is engaging, though-provoking and fun.    

The program is offered at no cost to the school, teachers, students and their families and is funded entirely by private donations.  Program expenses include, journals, pencils, craft supplies, books, admission fees to historic sites, fees for buses and trolleys, fees paid to living history performers and staff time.  The cost of the program is $250 per child and in the 2013/2014 school year, Historic Annapolis hopes to serve more than 500 students.

The ultimate goal of this program is to create good citizens who understand history and preservation and will take pride and ownership in their surroundings.  If our children are going to maintain Annapolis’s rich heritage we must provide them with a deep understanding of its character and importance.  It is only by valuing our heritage that our youth can serve as good stewards of the city in the future.
