Locust Grove is a late 18th-century historic site that tells the story of Louisville’s beginnings, offering students a chance to encounter the past and connect it with their present.

This year on Give for Good Day, Locust Grove is dedicating its focus to education programs and enhancing the many ways we serve local families and students. During a visit, students will explore life in early 1800s Louisville. Through our hands-on and interactive education programs, children and families will engage with history in a way that sparks curiosity and fosters a deeper understanding of how the past influences our lives today.

Our historic site offers numerous ways to serve the next generation, and we need YOUR help to ensure our programs have a greater impact and reach. Your donation will support children and family programs at Locust Grove in the following ways:

Hands-on Learning and Demonstration Supplies for Field Trips

Special Field Trip offerings with a STEM focus

Outreach in Local Schools and Virtual Field Trips

Teacher Online Resources and In-Service Training

Hands-on Learning at Events with Workshops for Children

Free Passes for Students Participating in LFPL's Summer Reading Program

Summer Camp with Scholarships Offered

Who We Are

Dating to circa 1792, Historic Locust Grove is a 55-acre farm site and National Historic Landmark located in Louisville, KY. We share the stories of every individual who lived at Locust Grove, from William and Lucy Croghan and George Rogers Clark to the over ninety individuals enslaved on this site. Our mission is to preserve and interpret the remaining 55 acres of this site, using the c. 1792 house, outbuildings, collection and grounds as opportunities to learn something old every day and explore the meaning of the past in our present life.
