Historic Macon’s mission is to revitalize communities by preserving architecture and sharing history.

Historic Macon Foundation is a national leader in preservation and a role model for revitalization efforts across the country. Our innovative program of renovation, the annual Fading Five list of endangered places, educational programing, and low interest loan programs allow Historic Macon to transform our community and demonstrate the powerful impact of saving places. 

We're proud of our accomplishments in 2022, none of which we could have achieved without the support of our members, our partners, our volunteers, and our donors. Here's just a sample:

• 12 affordable rental units in Beall's Hill coming online by the end of this year thanks to $1.2 million from Macon-Bibb County and the Knight Foundation;

• Summer membership drive that drew an incredible 165 new members;

• Moved into the beautifully renovated Fire Hall No. 4 as our headquarters;

• Continued and upgraded our tool library borrowing program;

• Brought back our Box City Summer Camp to the delight of local children;

• Held a variety of workshops for homeowners including siding installation, drywall repair, and urban gardening;

• Added the home of Doctor E. E. Green to Macon's Fading Five list;

• Hosted a variety of educational programs in our Sidney’s Salons;

• Celebrated local renovations with our 2022 Preservation Awards and Annual Meeting
