About Us

The Ho’oilina Foundation is a dedicated group of individuals with roots in Hawaii who give their services and time to promote cultural arts and awareness. Collectively we  promote pride in the Hawaiian/Pacific Island culture and spirit of aloha among communities across Southern California. The Board of Directors has in the past partnered in the past with community organizations to provide grants, scholarships, and/or resource assistance. We are proud to have provided the following grant awards:

  • The Lindsey Ohana Benefit concert – $10,000 Community Grant
  • Pacific American Community Cultural Center – $4,000 Cultural Grant
  • Sandwich Islands Network – $4,000 Cultural Grant
  • Aina Creations – $2,000 Cultural Grant
  • Central California Women’s Facility (Chowchilla State Prison) – $1,000 Cultural Grant

For over a decade, the Ho’oilina Foundation and its network of volunteer community members have  produced the Heritage of Aloha Festival so that cultural practitioners, performers, students, and vendors have a public space to share their aloha with residents and visitors from all over Southern California.  The HOA Festival is an important event for Pacific Islanders wishing to gather and reconnect with their culture, and for the surrounding community to experience Polynesian arts and the aloha spirit. This event is made available to the public with no additional cost to attend.

Due to its popularity among the Hawaiian/Pacific Islander community, the Festival continues to grow in size and attendance.  As a result, additional resources are required to maintain the Foundation's grant program and ensure the Festival remains available and is accessible by all who wish to participate.

Our Goals

We would like to expand the grant program to provide scholarships on an annual basis. At the same time, we want to continue to produce the Heritage of Aloha Festival without requiring an admission fee. Our Board members have managed to cover the Foundation’s operating costs through vendor support and personal contributions. This year, Festival attendees and all supporters are kindly invited to share their aloha and contribute any amount to the Foundation’s Give in May campaign.

All proceeds will go towards funding the Ho’oilina Foundation’s following goals:

  1. Purchase of stairs, railing, and ramps to ensure ADA access for handicapped participants.
  2. Provide ongoing grant and scholarship opportunities for organizations serving vulnerable members of Asian/Pacific Islander community.
  3. Festival permit requirements and parking enhancements.

Mahalo nui loa for your support.
