Computers and code are everywhere. Understanding code is now a part of literacy. Learning computational concepts helps people participate in the new culture and economy. In addition to technical skills, we encourage a variety of skills, including problem solving, abstract thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills—all very important in any environment.

My daughter had a great time and has talked about it every day since. She’s playing with Scratch on a daily basis now and even got my 5 year old interested in learning it!

Over 1,200 kids have come to our workshops in the past year. Our workshops are free and open to anyone. Most of our workshops are held at the fabulous Mass Green High Performance Computing Center in the Holyoke, located between the canals in the downtown Holyoke Innovation District.

Holyoke Codes encourages and supports diversity in our programs. We reach out to groups underrepresented in the technology field, people of color, low-income families, and girls. Providing access to these opportunities has the potential to inspire kids and transform their lives and our communities.

Our workshops open the door to experience technology in an exciting, approachable way that values new ideas, creativity, critical thinking, and confidence. Holyoke Codes is creating a learning community and is a resource for Holyoke and the surrounding communities.

Thanks Holyoke Codes for offering amazing workshops & teaching kids to code!! My son was introduced to Scratch in February and now his latest project is being featured on the front page!
