When Holyoke's 100 year old beloved amusement park, Mountain Park, closed in 1987, local resident John Hickey mounted an unprecedented community campaign to save the park's 1929 Philadelphia Toboggan Company carousel and reopen it in the city's downtown area.

In 1993, The Holyoke Merry-Go-Round officially opened its doors to the public in the city's Heritage State Park.  For 30 years, it has been and continues to be a delightful and popular destination for both families and carousel lovers from across the globe.  In fact in 2018, it received the prestigious National Carousel Association's National Historic Award.

The ride is owned by The Friends of the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation and does not receive city, state or federal funding to operate.  Operating expenses are paid for by ridership and donations. Your donation will significantly help our organization keep the cost of rides affordable by offsetting expenses associated with the specialized maintenance and repairs needed for our aging 95 year-old carousel and its' building.

Thank you for considering how you can help us keep our carousel spinning so that it can continue to delight generations of children and their families.
