Wakeland Housing and Development Corporation was founded as a nonprofit corporation in 1998 with the goal of creating housing opportunities for working families and individuals who are increasingly being priced out of the real estate market. Guided by our mission of delivering high-quality residential developments that address the needs of the communities we serve, Wakeland has emerged as a leader in the creation and operation of affordable homes in California.

AFFORDABLE HOMES WITH ON-SITE SUPPORTIVE SERVICES

Wakeland has partnered with the City of Riverside and Mercy House Living Centers to create a new community for veterans, Anza Apartments. This development helps fulfill the dreams of veterans and their families by establishing a new community of affordable homes with on-site services tailored to the unique needs of the men and women who have served and sacrificed for their country. While living here, residents pay affordable rents and have access to a number of on- and off-site services to help them achieve their goals for personal and professional success.

HONORING OUR PAST AND HELPING VETERANS PLAN FOR THE FUTURE

Set on the former site of Camp Anza, a historic Army Camp in the Arlanza neighborhood, Anza Apartments will also honor Riverside’s military history. As part of the development process, the old Camp Anza Officers Club on Picker Street will be restored to its former glory to serve as a community center for residents – much as it did in its heyday. Residents will gather within the walls of this historic treasure to attend programs on financial literacy, computer training, homebuyer education, resume building, parenting and nutrition, among others.
