Homeaid Southern Nevada

A nonprofit organization

$460 raised by 11 donors

HomeAid Southern Nevada was founded in 2004 under the guidance of Bill June of Beazer Homes. Our mission is building new lives for Southern Nevada’s homeless through housing and community outreach. We carry out this mission through:

  • Care days (community outreach)
  • Fundraising
  • Shelter build projects
  • Education and awareness in the community

The HomeAid Southern Nevada chapter is sponsored by the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association and is overseen by our Board of Directors and its Executive Team.

WHAT

Since we opened our doors, more than 100,000 square feet have been built and renovated, and over 2000 homeless children and adults have been served through the great work of countless builders, trades, sponsors and volunteers involved with HomeAid Southern Nevada.

When it comes to our shelter build projects, we pride ourselves in getting an average of 70% of every project completely donated through labor, services, materials and time. This generosity in the home building industry allows our non profit partners who are serving the homeless, to continue to use those vital dollars towards programming and case management instead of paying the entire cost to build or renovate their shelter/ facility.

We also hold annual Care Day & Fundraising Events to promote and support these shelter build projects:

  • Care days-community based outreach days to support the homeless service providers
    • Back to School & Hygiene Drive- Project 150
    • Cinderella Clean Up- Family Promise
    • Hunger & Homeless Awareness Food Drive- UNLV
    • Ticor Toy Drive- Women’s Development Center
    • Spring Clean Up- Las Vegas Rescue Mission

  • Fundraising- Two annual events to help fund our mission:
    •  Target Homelessness Sporting Clay Event (Spring)
    • Project Playhouse Pet Edition (Fall)

  • Education & Outreach- It is our mission to work with the best homeless service providers in town. We work with all of these community partners to create awareness for the problem of homelessness and also to help them find solutions for their agency through our shelter and outreach programs.

We have seen tremendous success with HomeAid's shelter build projects and community outreach programs through partnerships with homeless nonprofit organizations such as: St Jude’s Ranch for Children, Lutheran Social Services, Women’s Development Center, Family Promise, Las Vegas Rescue Mission, Neighborhood Housing Services of Southern Nevada, WestCare Women's & Children's Campus, Project 150 and Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.

WHY

In our time working in the Southern Nevada community, we have seen the need for continued support of non-profit organizations that serve the homeless population. Often times, this is a forgotten population, so with the help of HomeAid Southern Nevada, many organizations are able to expand their operations, continue to provide beds and ultimately serve more homeless men, women and children in our community.
