Homes for Hearts

A nonprofit organization

At Homes for Hearts, we are committed to building permanent supportive housing with quality, self-managed cottage courts, containing small, single-family houses within Memphis to help pave the way for men and women experiencing chronic homelessness toward home ownership.

Memphis, TN is facing an affordable housing crisis. The Memphis Metropolitan area which has about 1.2 million people, has a shortage of 38,000 affordable housing units. On any given night, there are more than 1,200 Memphians without a roof over their head. Memphis needs more affordable options for everyone, in every neighborhood.

  • Housing First approach to permanently house people experiencing homelessness, while providing connectivity, sustainability, livability, and opportunity in neighborhoods where there are few options.
  • Creating a natural, beloved community and self-governed homestead to provide autonomy, responsibility, and respect that will help pave the way toward home ownership for each of our residents.
  • Work alongside community leaders to help reduce Memphis’ homelessness, mortality rate, poverty, blight, crime-rate, hospitalizations, medical costs, mental illness, trauma, drug abuse, and environmental impact.
