Hope Street Food Pantry Inc

In 2020 Hope Street Food Pantry (501c3) experienced a tremendous growth in need due to the pandemic and served just over 26,000 people, which was a 433% increase over 2019.  This growth equated to giving out over half a million dollars of food and toiletries. Thanks to our relationship with Second Harvest Food Bank Metrolina, local churches, the community and corporate donations we were able to meet the needs of our community.

Working out of the basement of a small 1950’s house made storing the amount of food needed almost impossible.  Not to mention the lack of efficiency in functioning in tight quarters, having to off load pallets of food by hand and maneuvering up and down stairs. With the assistance of Hope Church, Hope Street Food Pantry made a leap of faith and began construction of a new facility in January 2021.  This new facility will not only be home to a larger more efficient food pantry, but will also be home to Hope Street Community Center. The community center will offer training and workshops that will provide our community the educational opportunities needed to help our clients grow and become happier, healthier and more independent.   Features of the new facility will include: a rollup receiving door, a larger more efficient storage and processing area, a walk-in freezer, commercial refrigeration, floor scale to more efficiently log donations, more parking and two classrooms that will be used for community workshops, training and client advocacy. We are hoping to raise enough money to cover the cost of the new facility, so that the pantry can operate debt free.  Your donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible.
