Mission: Horizons Unlimited Christian Academy in partnership with parents and the community aims to provide a supportive learning environment that promotes Christian principles and academic excellence.
About: Horizons opened in August 2003 with the objectives of addressing the low graduation rates, low FCAT Scores, and high dropout rates. The Academy opened with 8 students, and 3 staff. It was initially housed at Bethlehem Baptist Church and served K3 & K4 classes only. The demand from the community for children under three to participate in the learning experience led us to purchase a separate building in 2012. This allowed us to expand our offering to include children as young as six months. We have now grown to 70 students and a total of 19 staff and we are at capacity in the current building. Our goal is to prepare and motivate students to develop exemplary character and high achievement while empowering them to become God-loving, law-abiding, productive citizens, community leaders, and entrepreneurs, within a culturally diverse global society. The very fiber of Horizons’ program and mission is to offer a quality education to each child entrusted in our care. Thereby, ensuring they are prepared for future success in kindergarten and beyond. Furthermore, becoming productive citizens in society and the world at large. To illustrate our commitment to that goal, Horizons Unlimited Christian Academy (HUCA) is one of only two preschool programs in Sarasota County that scored 100% on the statewide school readiness assessment. Indeed, we believe HUCA is a program in which all of Sarasota can take pride!
