Horizons at Warner School - University of Rochester

Most our students are just like Aleekah.  Aleekah attended Horizons at Warner for five summers in a row. Each summer she demonstrated 2-3 months growth in reading and math.  Swimming lessons, visiting museums, running a business, and publishing books have all been part of her summer activities.  She even designed and built a bookcase for her bedroom, which she has filled with the free books she gets at all of our family events.

For her workshop choice last summer, Aleekah worked alongside a chemistry PhD student;  at the end of the summer she declared that her dream is to become a scientist.  Aleekah also spends every Saturday during the school year on campus as a member of the Horizons at Warner LEGO Robotics team.

Aleekah was shy and nervous her first summer, but over the past five years she has become poised and self-confident.  This summer she will join our TAIT (teachers assistants in training) program and then next summer she will be hired as staff.  She knows that she wants to pay it forward to kids just like her! 

Horizons at Warner serves 135 students just like Aleekah every summer in a full time six-week program using meaningful and authentic learning experiences!
