What We Do
Horse Farms Forever’s mission is to preserve the character and culture that horses, horse farms and the Farmland Preservation Area bring to Marion County/Ocala, Florida. The organization is focused on raising awareness about protecting horse farms and advocating for the protection of the Farmland Preservation Area (FPA) from the threat of unplanned growth and road development.

Since 2018, HFF has helped to strengthen the FPA’s boundaries and prevented development and roadway threats from encroaching into the FPA. HFF is also working with community leaders and landowners to establish new policies in Marion County’s comprehensive plan to help protect the nearly 1,200 horse farms in the county.
Horse Farms Forever is dedicated to preserving the open spaces and beautiful places that make Ocala/Marion County the Horse Capital of the World®. From new roadways to rezoning. We are here to gather and multiply all of the voices that understand the value of our rural heritage and seek to preserve it forever.

Conservation Summit & Workshop: Our First Annual gathering of landowners and community leaders to discuss the way forward in Marion County Farmland Preservation will take place on November 19, 2020, at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club from 12:00 to 2:30pm. This will be followed by an intensive workshop for landowners in early 2021. Help us by supporting these landmark meetings.
Threat Reserve Fund: We are always watching and monitoring potential roadway and development threats to the FPA. When a specific proposal comes before the County, we act by raising grassroots support, speaking out in public and through the media, and meeting with community leaders. These efforts require considerable professional resources. Help us by contributing to our Threat Reserve Fund.
Land Conservation Partnership with Alachua Land Trust: Through a generous grant by the Felburn Foundation, we have embarked on a land conservation partnership with the Alachua Land Trust. The funds donated will help with the administrative expenses associated with establishing conservation easements on important properties in the Farmland Preservation Area. Help us by supporting conservation easements.
Community-Wide Survey: How does Marion County feel about urban growth? How important is Ocala's global brand as the Horse Capital of the World®? How strong is the horse economy in Marion County? We seek to answer these and other important questions with a community-wide survey. Help us by supporting a comprehensive, professional survey.
