Houchin Community Blood Bank

Dedicated to serving the needs of the community, Houchin Community Blood Bank has been serving Kern County since 1951. We are committed to being the sole provider of a safe and adequate blood supply for the hospitals we serve. The supply available is dependent on volunteer donors who come to our two Bakersfield donor centers or participate in mobile drives in communities, and at companies and organizations across the county. The need for O type blood, as well as platelets and plasma of all blood types, is growing and a special challenge in 2016.  New donors are needed all the time to replace those who can no longer give.  These products cannot be manufactured in a laboratory, and giving them is truly a life saving act of kindness. Please donate on May 3rd from 9-6 at 5901 Truxtun Avenue or 11515 Bolthouse Drive.  We will also have a mobile drive in the Kern River Valley at First Baptist Church in Lake Isabella from noon to 6 pm.
