Housing Initiative Partnership Inc

Housing Initiative Partnership, Inc. (HIP) is an innovative, green nonprofit developer based in Prince George’s County, Maryland dedicated to revitalizing neighborhoods and removing blight. HIP creates housing and economic opportunities for persons of low- and moderate-income and provides services that improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.

HIP buys and substantially rehabs — or sometimes tears down and builds new — vacant single family homes in inner-beltway neighborhoods. These homes typically require extensive work and are practically new when completed.   In an average home HIP will replace all major systems (roof, gutters, furnace, central air, hot water heater) and heavy up the electrical system.   In addition, we will replace the  kitchen and bathroom(s), install all new appliances (garbage disposal, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, washer and dryer), and replace all electrical fixtures and flooring.   HIP’s signature feature is the addition of a front porch.   Not only does the porch dramatically improve the curb appeal of the home, it also encourages the new owners to sit out front of their home and get to know their neighbors and the community.

HIP receives funding from Prince George’s County and the State of Maryland to help reduce the purchase price of these homes.  Homes are affordable to families earning 80% or less of the area median income.
