Virtual Counseling is a unique and innovative technology in the nonprofit sector that delivers
tailored solutions linking nonprofit service providers to near-instant service and response to client
needs. HOC has created a system called the Virtual Counselor Network© (VCN) to allow
clients at partner agencies to connect via the internet to a Virtual Counselor (VC) at participating
agencies who serve as subject experts.

The current economic crisis has resulted in greater diversity and demand of consumer needs, and nonprofit agencies are seeking ways to help more individuals. One way to meet the mission of
nonprofits and the increased demand for personalized counseling is to utilize the internet, which
will be a paradigm shift for nonprofits from their conventional “in-person, in-office, face-to-face”
counseling. The use of technology will enable nonprofits to be readily accessible providing
individualized counseling in remote regions and to those with other mobility constraints.
