HousingNOLA

HousingNOLA is a cross-sector housing strategy and collaborative initiative launched in 2014, bringing together community leaders and dozens of public, private, and nonprofit organizations working to solve New Orleans' affordable housing crisis. Our mission is to provide a road map to maximize the effectiveness of scarce government resources, increase non-traditional and private investment, and assist private sector investors in making strategic choices.

A comprehensive housing plan for New Orleans is more critical than ever. Skyrocketing rent, rising insurance costs, substandard rental conditions, and housing access barriers are all interconnected issues that must be addressed together. That's why we created HousingNOLA, and why we continue to advance integrated policy and investment strategies that respond to today’s housing and climate realities.

Since 2014, we have collaborated with residents, public officials, developers, and business leaders to identify housing challenges and develop long-term strategies. HousingNOLA is more than a document. It is an active initiative that tracks progress, convenes partners, and advances policy and investment solutions to ensure ongoing action.

In 2025, as the original 10-year strategy concluded, HousingNOLA launched the Housing for All 10-Year Investment Plan, aligning its policy framework with a comprehensive investment strategy to eliminate housing cost burden, close the racial wealth gap, combat displacement, and build a more resilient housing system.

HousingNOLA sets goals and strategies to expand affordable housing and guide policymakers in shaping funding and policies based on community needs. This plan extends beyond elected officials, ensuring continuity despite political changes. We work with public and private partners to support implementation and hold leaders accountable for advancing its recommendations.

Community participation is vital to HousingNOLA's success. Everyone has a stake in the final outcome, and we are committed to making the process inclusive. Diversity in participation is central to every aspect of HousingNOLA, ensuring all voices are heard and reflected in equitable housing outcomes.
