Access Reimagined for our Community

For more than thirty years, the Hudson Area Library Foundation has supported the Hudson Area Public Library with grants towards programs for children, teens, families, seniors, and entrepreneurs. We've also funded technology within the Library to give those without access a place to connect to resources and apply for jobs, as well as learn about new technology such as 3D printing. Our biggest message in the most recent years is our Library is so much more than books. It took a pandemic to make that point clear as our Library was one of the few to quickly provide access in creative ways to our community.

Over this past year, our Library quickly became a resource for critical information, an online hub for activities and familiar faces, a lifeline to materials for our most vulnerable citizens, and so much more.  A few highlights of their ongoing activities include:

  • Provide quarantined resources to our community via curbside and in-Library
  • Deliver bins of books to senior centers and daycare facilities
  • Develop art, STEM, and family fun take-and-make kits weekly
  • Create videos for a YouTube Channel that has 10,000+ video views
  • Installed an outdoor spacewalk in Lakefront Park for families to explore and learn
  • Host moderated talks with online streaming for remote participation
  • Safely held Easter, Halloween, and Christmas celebrations

And last summer, with so much in our community shut down, our Library saw an increase of online Teen participation through programs they quickly developed just for that age group.

Your gift today will help keep our people of ALL ages in our community connected, learning, and exploring.

This year is still going to look different, but we have some amazing bright spots ahead of us. Our Library is working to bring the Summer reading Program back and that could include programs in the parks through partnerships with Carpenter Nature Center, Colossal Fossil, and the Bakken Museum. They also are building up more items our community can check out besides books and movies. Currently, people can check out board games, wifi hot spots, a sewing machine, lego kits; and new ideas include adding things like metal detectors and snowshoes. This doesn't even include the programs for kids, teens, adults, and the take-and-make kits.

Our minimum level of support to the Hudson Area Public Library is $36, 500 annually. Help us to grow our support of the Library and they continue to grow their service to our community. All gifts matter. Thank you for your consideration!
