Our Herstory? Our Founder, Nicole Carter, PhD, MPH, started HUES Women’s Health Advocacy Institute in 2022 as a means of saving her own life as a Black woman living with multiple debilitating autoimmune diseases.

Using the stories of her grandmothers’, aunts’, and mom as her armor, Dr. Carter wanted to save the lives of others along the way. 

Our Mission? HUES uses community and culturally inclusive curricula, conversation, decolonized research practices, and community advocacy and outreach to advance access to quality care and equity for Women of Color.  

How Can You Help? Donations to HUES will assist us in 1) creating updated health-provider curricula centered on the medical and holistic experiences of Women of Color; 2) creating in-person and online support networks for and by Women of Color in the areas of Breast Health, Lupus, Diabetes; 3) Supporting the already existent maternal vitality efforts in the Greater Dayton area; 4) and developing a full-integrated and responsive provider and resource directory for Women of Color.
